I am skilled at providing business insight and analysis, creating key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance monitoring. I have a deep understanding of client-server development and the “full stack” from data acquisition to presentation - from raw data to intelligence.

Self-employed software engineer working in mobile applications for Symbian, Nokia and Opera Software building resilient software using “Design Patterns” in C++. I took an interest in front end development and designed UI specs for several mobile phones apps.

PERSONAL BACKGROUND AND ASPIRATIONS
I understand business and enjoy having ownership of a project, given autonomy and the opportunity to innovate. I also enjoy managing small teams and helping them to improve their skills.
I have good written and spoken communication skills and enjoy public speaking and presentation.
I have a mathematical background which includes some of the maths which forms the basis of artificial intelligence for my second degree (MSc Distributed Multimedia Networks) and I take an active interest in science.
I take an interest in local, national and international news. I have had articles published in the Manchester University newspaper, in the Guernsey Press and once in The Guardian.
I have experience of teaching English as a foreign language and of teaching Maths at secondary school. I have travelled fairly widely and can communicate well with non-native English speakers. I can also speak passable French and Norwegian as well as some Spanish and German.
I like to keep fit - running and working on my handstand - and enjoy surfing and snowboarding. I play music, with experience busking and on the stage, and enjoy a cryptic crossword!
